14 Sept - I got it rough

There's nothing like the pungent odour of freshly spread manure to bring home the concept of country farming. I had little trouble conceptualizing it this morning and marvelled at how much the perfume lingers perched right on the edge of my nostrils.

Rode into Camucia this a.m. to run some errands and found myself mowing down on some exquisite broccoli and cheese custard concoction with a blueberry torte chaser. Holy mother of God, if this truly is heaven, I will kiss the Popes big gnarly toe.

The rest of the day turned out equally rough. Thought Id explore the bike trail id spotted on the outskirts of Camucia and it eventually connected me with il sentiero de la Bonifica, the other bike path Id already ridden a few times. This was the drill...Cycle a bit, raid a fig tree. Bike some more, hit the nectarine grove. A bit more pedalling, chew on a plum. A few more kms, then pluck a tomato from the vine. Ahhh Italia, the land of plenty. Youll steal my heart yet.
