16 Sept

It would appear no two mornings are identical in Toscana. Today I woke to the complex aroma of manure blended with burning crops. It wouldn't be unfair to compare it to a weeks worth of nasty-ass b.o. trying to hide under a few squirts of cheap perfume.

Some serious winds were brewing which seemed like a fine reason to abort a big pedal south. Traded in the sweat for a perfectly civilized lunch in the village. Reading, drinking, munching. Yummmm...

On my stroll back home, I sat on a country fence for a few minutes kicking back some water. Three curious geese summoned up the courage to saunter over and check me out. I could just imagine what kind of gems their low banter was delivering.

- What do you think it is?

- Gotta be one of them human things.

- Why isnt it moving?

- I just saw it move its head. Its watching us. WATCHING US!

- I dunno whats worse. Those humans fattening us up and ruining our figures or this spy in our territory.

Larry, Curly and Moe soon cranked their necks way high and sped past me. Given the cold shoulder by a gaggle of geese. Mehhhh.

The end to a perfect day: called uip my babe in Turkey to tell her all about the geese. In lurid detail. Every nanosecond of it. Must be love. Now THATS the cherry on top!
