9 Sept - Quick visit to Rome

There is no better way in Italia to start off the day than with a perfect latter. Vanelli, the bakery near the Camucia station obliged quite nicely. Oya and I traded in the car for a train ride into Rome.

K, it was now or never. As a person who was not particularly fond of pizza or pasta, my foodie and Italian friends encouraged me to sample the real goods. On our 4 month anniversary, Oya and I hit a roadside Roman trattoria after checking into cute central Hotel Mimosa. I finally saw the light. This ain't no Pizza Pizza. All I can say is wow.

We pounded the pavement, covering the fabulous 2000 year old Pantheon, incredibly ornate Trevi fountain and more. For dinner, we set our sights on Cul de Sac, a funky little wine bar near Piazza Navona. Can't say the service impressed but the fare certainly did...and then some. We started with some vino and a cheese and charcuterie selection along with some pheasant-truffle terrine. We followed this up with oxtail stew and a side of marinated eggplant. Bone-licking good, so I did...lick the bones, that is!
