Another home exchange with high hopes, this time settling on a little Tuscan sun.
Cristina and Roberto met me in a sleepy Camucia train station and immediately whisked me to my first serious Tuscan foodie experience. Tegamaccio, an authentic little deli, prepared the best, most yummy scrummy take-out eggplant parmesan I've ever had the pleasure to mow down on. You know you've arrived in gastronomic heaven when it's so to-die-for that you can't spare 5 minutes to heat it up.
My villa is located some 11 km from Camucia and around 15 km from the historic town of Cortona. To describe the grounds and complex as ginormous would be to do it a grave injustice. It has all the amenities, including a well-equipped kitchen, a kick-ass zen garden, chilling area and pool, all of it dropped smack in the middle of cypress, fig and olive tree spotted wine country.
